Ottawa outlasts Smiths Falls, 3-2

 

The Ottawa Senators gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Smiths Falls Bears.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Kyle Hillick at 7:35 of the third period.

 

Ottawa was led by Hillick, who had one goal.

The Senators' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Smiths Falls power plays.

Others who scored for Ottawa included Samuel Meisenheimer and Zacharie Car, who each put in one. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Jared Leslie and Brady Cloutier, who each chipped in one and Sean Rappleyea and Johnathan Kovacevic, who contributed two each.

Smiths Falls found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 14 shots against Ottawa's defense.

The Bears were helped by Nicolas Coates, who tallied one goal. Coates scored 6:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Ottawa. Corey Caruso assisted on the tally. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Johnny Curran as well. Other players who recorded assists for Smiths Falls were Chris MacMillan, who had one.

Ian Andriano recorded 12 saves for the Senators. Ottawa incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Smiths Falls' Dyllan Lubbesmeyer stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Bears incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
