Nepean uses shootout to best Brockville, 2-1 (2-0 SO)

 

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Nepean Raiders defeated the Brockville Braves in a shootout 2-1 (2-0 SO).

The shootout featured five attempts between both teams. Nepean's other shootout goal was scored by William Cullen.

 

The Raiders were led by goalie Francis Marotte, who finished with 32 saves while allowing one goal. Marotte certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.05 entering the contest.

Nepean's offense rang up 48 shots on Brockville's net.

The Raiders were led by PJ Heger, who registered one goal. Heger scored 6:57 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Nepean. Justin Hess picked up the assist. In addition, Nepean received assists from Kari Belec, who had one.

The Braves could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Brockville averages 3.3 goals per game. The Braves' offense rang up 33 shots on Nepean's net.

Brockville was led by Neil Robinson, who scored the team's only goal. Robinson scored 11:11 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Vincenzo Renda provided the assist.

The Raiders ended with no penalties and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Michael Cerasuolo rejected 46 shots on goal for the Braves. Brockville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities.
