Morning Recap | Hawks and Grads win Sunday, Bears to play Nationals in Sudden Death Game

 

OTTAWA, ON – Two games of CCHL action on the final Sunday of the regular season, as the Hawkesbury Hawks and Navan Grads picked up victories. The bigger story however is that the Smiths Falls Bears earned a single point and have tied Rockland for the 8th and final playoff position, meaning the two teams will face each other in a sudden death eliminator game where the winner will advance to face 1st place Ottawa in the first round of the Bogart Cup Playoffs.

 

HAWKESBURY 5 SMITHS FALLS 4 OT

Rylee Hlusiak scored the OT winner, Willyam Gendron scored twice in regulation, Jeremy Quesnel and Curtiss Sturgeon scored singles, while Dimitri Pelekos made 22-saves as Hawkesbury improved to 37-13-3-2 on the season. Smiths Falls, who fell to 25-25-4-1, had two goals from Will Rivet, singles from Jacob Lesser and Thomas Gangl, while Will McEvoy made 26-saves in the losing effort. The Bears will now play a sudden death single game eliminator Vs the Rockland Nationals Tuesday night at 7:30. The winner will advance to face 1st place Ottawa in the 1st round of the Bogart Cup Playoffs. 

 

NAVAN 5 OTTAWA 2

Owen Parsons, Jack Cook, Aiden McCarthy, Joseph Ianiello, and Danyk Drouin hit the scoresheet, while Ben West made a whopping 50-saves as Navan finished their season 27-24-2-2 and a 1st round Bogart Cup playoff match-up against 2nd place Hawkesbury. Ottawa, who fell to 43-8-2-2, had goals from Vincent Velocci and Anthony Provost, while William Desmarais made 43-saves in the losing effort. Ottawa will face either Rockland or Smiths Falls in their first round match-up.
