Mooney's goals lift NOJHL to 5-2 victory over OJHL NIEUWENDYK

 

NOJHL relied on the scoring touch of Ryan Mooney, who netted two goals, to beat OJHL NIEUWENDYK, 5-2.

Mooney found the back of the net 7:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 NOJHL and again while 14:48 into the first to make the score 2-0 NOJHL.

 

NOJHL's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four OJHL NIEUWENDYK power plays. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

NOJHL additionally got points from Brett Jeffries, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Jaren Bellini, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Hunter Atchison, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, NOJHL received assists from Darlan Pilon, who had two and Jamey Lauzon and Brayden Stortz, who each chipped in one.

OJHL NIEUWENDYK was helped by David Baskerville, who finished with one goal. Baskerville scored 15:33 into the first period to make the score 2-1 NOJHL. Zach Evancho picked up the assist. OJHL NIEUWENDYK also got points from Evancho, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points.
