Kemptville holds on for 5-3 win against Cornwall

 

The Cornwall Colts tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Kemptville 73s would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3.

Kemptville made the score 5-2 on a goal by Adam Alavi at 9:00 in the third period, and Cornwall got as close as 5-3 when Parker Krol scored 18:00 into the third period.

 

The 73s were paced by Jake Gaudet, who tallied one goal. Gaudet scored 13:04 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Kemptville. Victor Tracy picked up the assist.

Kemptville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Colts were unable to stop the 73s from sending pucks towards the net, and Kemptville eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Kemptville also had goals scored by Matthew Titus, Jason Tackett, and Bobby Dow, who each put in one. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Quinn Wichers, who had two and Jack Hale, Tyson Kirkby, Cameron Russell, Brandon Cole, and Matt Tugnutt, who each chipped in one.

Cornwall's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Kemptville power plays. The Colts forced the 73s goalie Nicholas Hodgins to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Cornwall additionally got points from Matthew Morin, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cornwall also got a goal from Grant Cooper as well. More assists for Cornwall came via Ross Craig, Sebastian Dirven, Dean Derouchie, and Nick Lalonde, who contributed one each.

Kemptville's Hodgins stopped 38 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The 73s incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Liam Lascelle rejected 28 shots on goal for Cornwall. The Colts incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
