Kemptville completes comeback, beats Cornwall, 5-4

 

The Kemptville 73s climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Cornwall Colts, 5-4.

Kemptville let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The 73s took a 2-1 advantage on a goal by Owen Guy at 13:52 in the first period. Kemptville went down 4-2 after Cornwall's Shawn Baird put the puck home at 2:59 in the third period. After knotting things up at 4-4 on a goal by Alex Row at 15:22 in the third, the 73s got the game-winner from Tyson Kirkby at 18:18 in the third period.

 

Kemptville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Colts to score on any of their five power plays.

The 73s were led by Jason Tackett, who registered two goals. Tackett scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:03 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kemptville had gotten the advantage when Cornwall's Lawson MacDougall was sent off for tripping. Adam Alavi assisted on the tally. Tackett's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Cornwall with 6:53 left in the third period. Quinn Wichers picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Kemptville were Dean Kiriacou and Victor Tracy, who each chipped in one and Jake Gaudet and Bobby Dow, who contributed two each.

The 73s were unable to stop the Colts from sending pucks towards the net, and Cornwall eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

Cornwall additionally got points from Dean Derouchie, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Sebastian Dirven as well. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Ross Craig, Tristan Conrad, Parker Krol, and Liam Lascelle, who each chipped in one.

Peter Brooks made 37 saves for Kemptville on 41 shots. The 73s incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Colts' Lascelle stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Cornwall incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
