Joseph lifts Carleton Place over Kanata, 7-3

 

The Carleton Place Canadians relied on the scoring touch of Marcus Joseph, who netted two goals, to beat the Kanata Lasers, 7-3.

Joseph scored on the power play at 6:37 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Carleton Place and again while on the power play 8:05 into the third to make the score 5-3 Carleton Place.

 

Carleton Place's offense rang up 39 shots on Kanata's net. The Canadians outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Carleton Place averages 4.0 goals per contest. The Canadians cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on five chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with four goals.

Carleton Place also got points from Jacob Moreau, who also registered one goal and one assist and Alex Robinson, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Carleton Place also had goals scored by Geoff Kitt, Matt Lombardozzi, and Jordan Larson, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Bryce VanHorn, who had three, Lucas Batt, Maxime StPierre, and Alex Friesen, who each chipped in one, and Shawn Kennedy and Nicolas Carrier, who contributed two each.

Carleton Place's defense shut down the Lasers' forwards for much of the game, and Kanata got off only 13 shots during the contest.

The Lasers were led by Declan Hilton, who had one goal and one assist. Hilton scored on the power play 13:11 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Kanata. Kanata earned a power play opportunity when Lombardozzi was put in the box for hooking. Brady Cloutier assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Kanata included David Pearce and Kyle Dowdall, who scored one goal each. In addition, Kanata received assists from Luke Seper and Joey Laird, who each chipped in one.

James Edwardson made 10 saves for the Canadians on 13 shots. Carleton Place incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Lasers' Jorden Vachon stopped 32 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Kanata incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
