Jordan Power named the Gongshow Academic Player of the Month

Ottawa, Ontario – The Central Canada Hockey League is proud to announce that Jordan Power has been named the Gongshow Academic Player of the Month.

Power, 16, had a great month to go along with an already terrific first year as part of the Nationals. During the month, Power had 7 assists. During the year, Power had 2 goals and accumulated 32 assists during his 1st year playing in the CCHL. He was also recently named to the CCHL All-Rookie team.

But as the award suggests, he has also been getting work done in the classroom.

Power is currently a full-time student in high school and averages an A grade with Mathematics and Science in his course load.

Power talked about the balancing act he has to do combining CCHL hockey with high school.

“Academics are extremely important to me.” said Power.  “It’s been challenging balancing Grade 11 with the demands of playing in the CCHL, but I will continue to work hard and do the best I can.”

“Jordan has had a spectacular first season in Rockland” said Head Coach/GM of the Rockland Nationals, Dan Sauvé . “From day one of camp, he has been our most valuable defender without a doubt.”

Sauvé also complimented how Power’s intelligence in the classroom also translates onto his on ice play.

“His poise and ability to outsmart opponents have helped establish him as a premier defenseman in our league. We feel like there is nothing he can’t do or learn.”

Honourable mention goes out to Nepean Raiders forward Olivier Gauthier who in the month of February was able to score 5 goals and tally 4 assists. Gauthier is currently a part time student at Algonquin College and is currently getting a 94% in Microeconomics and a 100% in Marketing.

This award is sponsored by Gongshow Gear.
