Hawks Jankowski Top Graduating Player

Hawkesbury, Ontario – The Central Canada Hockey League announced Thursday that Hawkesbury Hawkes captain David Jankowski is the winner of the 2017/18 Top Graduating Player award.

Jankowski, 20, leads all ’97 born players in goals (38), points (89) and is tied for first among graduates in assists with 51. The Waterloo, Ontario native is also tied for first with eight game winning goals and his 21 power-play assists is second behind Blacksmith’s 26.

As a graduating, the St. Lawrence University commit is very excited to be joining the top notch NCAA Division 1 School next season.

“Hopefully I get an opportunity to play there and maybe make an impact right away as a first year player,” says Jankowski. “I looking forward to it a lot, it’s a good program and I hope I can have a great year next year.”

Jankowski came into this season as a twenty year old player with no division one scholarship. He says that players going into their final year of junior must just stick to the program and let the chips fall where they may.

“You need to show up and give a 100% every day because I think you lose results when you stop giving 100% every day. Just show up and work hard.”

Jankowski was an underrated player with the Hawks last season. He scored 20 goals and 41 points in 40 games but wasn’t known to most of the league as a star.

“I think this season is was just a matter of finding a fit for him,” explained Dorval on Jankowski’s breakout season. “Having watched him since he was 15 years old I knew what I was getting and how to play him. He also played under some great players last season but no matter what he was successful last year.”

Jankowski has now been named a CCHL first team all-star, all-graduate all-star, the winner of the Sportsmanship award and now the winner of the Top Graduating Player.
