Ottawa, Ontario – The Central Canada Hockey League is proud to announce its Gongshow Gear Three Stars of the Month for December.
Hawkesbury Hawks David Jankowski is our First Star of the Month while Cornwall Colts J.D Pogue and Kanata Lasers Bennett Stockdale have been named second and third star, respectively.
Jankowski, 20, scored 12 goals and tallied 19 points in 9 games during the month of December to capture first star honours. The Waterloo, Ontario native is currently first in goals scored (28) and first among leaders in points (62) holding a CCHL best 1.68 point per game total this season.
“It’s always nice as a coach to see a player with that capability achieve these nice personal goals while the team (Hawkesbury) is having success” said Hawkesbury Hawks head coach, Rick Dorval on Jankowski’s month. “His play this month gave us a chance to be successful and compete on a nightly basis”.
Pogue, 20, the Second Star of the Month scored seven goals and a total of nine points over four games in December, leading the Colts to a 3-1 record during that time. The Montreal, Quebec native is currently eighth on the team in scoring with 20 points (13G/7A) in 21 games.
“I’ve battled through injuries this year and I’m just trying to make every shift count, out there” said Pogue on earning second star of the month. “It always helps to be surrounded by good players too and the guys are competing hard every night and we are focusing on good habits in practice; smaller details that can help us (Cornwall) win hockey games”.
Stockdale, 18, December’s Third Star of the Month posted nine points, including three goals in 7 games this month. The Nepean, Ontario native helped the Kanata Lasers to a 5-0-2 month, with two wins coming against the Ottawa Jr. Senators and Carleton Place Canadians.
“Like the rest of our group, he just seems to be finding his stride” mentioned Kanata Lasers Head Coach Nathan Hewitt on Stockdale’s award. “It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly what it is, but I know he’s been doing the little things right and not looking for any shortcuts. He’s also been logging hours over at Amped with our assistant coach, Mike Asselin working on skills”.

The CCHL Tier 1 2018 schedule begins Thursday, January 4th when the Kanata Lasers take on the Hawkesbury Hawks and when the Conrwall Colts host the Rockland Nationals.
