Fred Page Cup | Jr Sens skate hard to victory over Edmundston

Ottawa, ON – The forecheck was a thing of beauty all night as the Ottawa Jr Senators were flying and topped the Edmundston Blizzard by a 4-1 score in their opening game of the Fred Page Cup.

Finn Evans got the scoring started for the Jr Sens early in the second on the power play as he let a wicked snap shot go from the top of the circle that beat Blizzard goaltender Francis Asselin.

The Blizzard would tie the game less than two minutes into the third period as Dany Coulombe would go hard to the net and jump on a rebound that Connor Hicks couldn’t get to in time.  With Asselin playing exceptional in the Edmundston net, things would feel a little unsettling for the Ottawa fans in that moment, that is until the next Jr Senators power play.

On the man-advantage, the puck would go back to defenseman Michael Thomas who would have all the time in the world to walk into the slot and absolutely snipe the go-ahead goal past Asselin to put the Jr Sens back in the lead.

From there, Pierre-Luc Veillette and Ethan Manderville would add empty-net goals and Connor Hicks would finish with 18-saves as the Jr Senators would skate away victorious.

The Jr Senators are next in action Thursday evening when they take on the Carleton Place Canadians at 7:30PM.
