Fred Page Cup | Carleton Place falls 2-1 in opener to Collège Français de Longueuil

Ottawa, ON  It was a tough one for the Carleton Place Canadians in the opening game of the 2018 Fred Page Cup, falling by a 2-1 score to the QJHL’s Collège Français de Longueuil.

After a scoreless opening frame, Longueuil got the first tally of the game via a shorthanded marker by Vincent Chapleau before adding to their lead mid-way through the period as Philippe Chapleau one-timed home a power-play goal.

In the third period, the Canadians struck early with the man-advantage as Brett Thorne took a beautiful cross-crease pass from Travis Broughman to cut into the Longueuil lead.

Unfortunately for Carleton Place, they were not able to get the equalizer and dropped to 0-1-0 in the tournament.

The Canadians are next in action tomorrow (Thursday May 3rd) when they face off against CCHL Champion and Fred Page Cup Host Ottawa Jr Senators at 7:30PM.
