FORMER LUMBER KING PHILLIPS SIGNS WITH WINNIPEG JETS

After a stellar four-year career at Michigan Tech University, former Pembroke Lumber Kings goaltender Jamie Phillips has signed a two-year contract with the Winnipeg Jets.

The Jets drafted the Caledonia, ON native in the 7th round (190th) overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.  He will head into camp and add to the goalie competition which already includes Ondrej Pavelec, Michael Hutchinson, Connor Hellebucyk, and Eric Comrie.

During his college career with the Huskies, Phillips posted a 57-25-8 record with 10 shutouts and an astonishing 1.98 GAA.  He was named a WCHA Conference First All-Star twice, while also being nominated for the Mike Richter Award which goes to the top goaltender in NCAA Hockey during the 2014-15 season.

While a member of the Pembroke Lumber Kings in 2010-11, he went 27-6, helping the club to a league title and birth in the RBC Cup.
