Day 3 Blog | Junior Club Sirius World Cup | Journey to Sochi tomorrow

Moscow, RU – After a tough Exhibition Game loss on Tuesday Vs Krylya Sovetov, the CCHL Ottawa Capitals Select team were back at work for practice early Wednesday morning. The team continued to work on some finer points of the game, cleaning up some mistakes and fine-tuning their systems.

Following practice the team headed back to their hotel for lunch before an excursion to the Central Museum of Armed Forces. The museum is known as one of the major military museums of the world, dating back to 1919 when a permanent exhibition “The Life of the Red Army and Fleet” located in the Upper Shopping Mall in the Red Square of Moscow was first inaugurated. The museum has gained international recognition and has become an institutional member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and its International Committee of Museums and Collections of Arms and Military History (ICOMAM). In recognition of the museum achievements in April 1975 it was awarded the Order of Red Star.

The Museum makes an invaluable contribution to the preservation and outreach of the Russian troops history and their combat traditions.

Following the history lesson, the team just beat an incoming down pour to catch their bus back to their hotel where they would grab dinner and get some rest.

Tomorrow (Thursday) the team will have an early wake-up, get some breakfast at the hotel before venturing to the rink to pack up their gear and head to the airport where they will make their long-anticipated journey to Sochi. The flight is approximately 2.5 hours which is the shortest flight of the trip. Once in Sochi, the team will check into the Sochi Omega Hotel which is in close proximity to both the tournament venue (The Bolshoy Ice Dome) and Black Sea.
