Cornwall rolls over Brockville, 6-3

 

The Cornwall Colts had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-3 win over the Brockville Braves.

 

Cornwall got the win with help from a great game by Matthew Morin, who had two goals and one assist. Morin scored the first of his two goals at 15:58 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Cornwall. Parker Krol picked up the assist. Morin's next tally made the score 5-2 Cornwall with 14:41 left in the third period. The Colts had taken the advantage when Brockville's Andrew Jarvis got sent off for game misconduct. Tristan Elie provided the assist.

Cornwall's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Brockville power plays. The Colts' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Cornwall averages 3.8 goals per contest.

Cornwall also got points from Grant Cooper, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Krol, who also had one goal and one assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Nick Lalonde as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Dean Derouchie, who had two and Ross Craig, Lawson MacDonald, David Chevrier, and Lawson MacDougall, who contributed one each.

The Braves racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and two majors for 28 minutes in penalty time. Brockville had been averaging 19.0 minutes in penalties per game.

The Braves were helped by Neil Robinson, who grabbed one goal. Robinson scored short handed 15:32 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Cornwall. Brockville was on a disadvantage when Preston Kugler went off the ice for aggressor. Vincenzo Renda picked up the assist. Others who scored for Brockville included Jack Billings and Liam Folkes, who each put in one. In addition, Brockville received assists from Sam Jones, who had one.

James Edwardson made 24 saves for the Colts on 27 shots. Cornwall incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Braves' Henry Johnson stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Team's Kugler and Jarvis were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
