Commitment Alert | Hawks Matt Gasuik commits to NCAA Salve Regina University

The Central Canada Hockey League and Hawkesbury Hawks are pleased to announce that team captain Matt Gasuik has committed to NCAA Division 3 Salve Regina University for the 2020-21 season.

The 1999 born Buffalo, NY native recently completed his final year of junior hockey where he totaled 37 points (13G, 24A) in 62 games of action. Over the course of three seasons with the Hawks, the two-way forward totaled 106 points (37G, 69A) in 197 combined regular season and playoff match-ups.

“The CCHL played a huge role in developing my hockey career and led me down all the right paths,” said Gasuik. “Time flew by in my junior hockey career, but I was extremely lucky to be part of such a great organization in a great league. The league taught me consistency is crucial, especially when any team can beat anyone on any given night. This is what separates the CCHL and keeps you on your toes for all 62 games. The rivalries and all the exciting games I got to experience with my teammates, who will be my friends for life will not be forgotten. I couldn’t have done it without all the help from the Hawks coaching staff and trainers, especially Head Coach Rick Dorval. I am extremely excited to be continuing my academic and hockey career at Salve Regina University.”

Gasuik is the seventh member of the 2019-20 Hawks to make a college/university commitment, joining Azzaro Tinling (University of Vermont), Luke Grainger (University of Western Michigan), Patrick Callahan (Bowdoin College), Zach Johnson (Minot State University), Sebastien Paquette (SUNY Canton), and Dovar Tinling (University of Vermont).
