CCHL Recap | Nepean and Ottawa Win

 

Ottawa, ON – Two games happening in the Central Canada Hockey League ended with Nepean Raiders and Ottawa picking up close victories.

 

F | Nepean 2 Renfrew 1

Nepean’s Lleyton McLean set the tone in the 1st period with a goal, giving his team an early lead. The 2nd period saw Peter Freel extend Nepean’s advantage with another goal. Despite their efforts, Renfrew managed to break through in the 3rd period when Jace Letourneau scored a goal.

Nepean’s goaltender, Brady McEwan, showcased his skill with 27 saves, denying Renfrew’s numerous attempts to level the score. Renfrew’s Viacheslav Gordeichuk, equally impressive, made 25-saves.

F | Smiths Falls 1 Ottawa 2 (SO)

1st period, Davis Hails of Smiths Falls opened the scoring with a well-placed shot. Ottawa answered back in the 2nd period when Ben Albright found the back of the net, evening the score.

The game remained knotted at 1-1 through the 3rd period and a scoreless overtime, setting the stage for a shootout. Alexandre Cote of Ottawa was the shootout hero, sealing the win for his team.

The game’s goaltenders also played a pivotal role. Dawson Labre, guarding the net for Smiths Falls, made 23-saves. On the other side, Ottawa’s Will Mizenko stood tall with 26-saves.
