CCHL Recap | Junior Senators and Wolves Saturday winners

 

OTTAWA, ON – In Saturday night action across the CCHL, the Ottawa Junior Senators and Renfrew Wolves claimed two-point apiece in victories over Carleton Place and Hawkesbury.

 

F | OTTAWA 7 CARLETON PLACE 3

Ottawa came out on top with a convincing 7-3 victory over Carleton Place. In the 1st period, Owen Colter netted one for Carleton Place, with assists from Bill Gourgon and Cole Mathews. Lucas Leblanc scored twice for Ottawa, with Mathis Bedard, Lucas Staresinic, Jacob Renaud-Viau, and Mathis Bedard all contributing with assists. Harrison MacCallum added another goal for Ottawa, assisted by Jacob Winsor and Ben Albright. The 2nd period saw Ethan MacTavish scoring for Carleton Place, assisted by Bill Gourgon and Aidan Cooper. Ottawa’s Mathis Bedard, Aidan Cooper, Justin Murdoch, and Chase Yanni all found the back of the net. In the 3rd period, Chase Yanni continued his scoring run, with assists from Jacob Renaud-Viau and Lucas Staresinic. In goal, Ian Vandenberg made 36 saves for Carleton Place, while Will Mizenko was solid with 31 saves for Ottawa, securing the win. 

F | RENFREW 2 HAWKESBURY 1

In a closely contested game, the 1st period saw Renfrew’s Andrew Morton score a power-play goal, assisted by Dane Carter and Wyatt Hickok. The 2nd period remained scoreless. However, in the 3rd period, Hawkesbury’s Alexis Billequey found the net, with assists from Jacob Skoczylas and Alexis Minville. Just two minutes later, Renfrew’s Austin Fellinger capitalized on a power-play opportunity, with Owen Grainger and Jayson Alegria providing the assists. Nolan Lane was outstanding in goal for the Wolves, making 29 saves to secure the victory. On the other side, Hawkesbury’s Dimitri Pelekos made an impressive 41 saves in the loss, despite the high shot volume against him. This thrilling game ended with a final score of 2-1, highlighting the stellar performances of both goaltenders and the intense competition between the two teams.
