CCHL Recap | 73’s and Junior Senators Win Wednesday Evening

Ottawa, ON – The Kemptville 73′s hosted the Brockville Braves, in overtime the 73’s won 4-3. The Ottawa Junior Senators hosted the Rockland Nationals, after 60-minutes the Junior Senators won 3-2.

From the start, Trey Wandall netted one for Kemptville in the 1st period, answered swiftly by Thomas Cormier for Brockville. Parker Holmes added another for Kemptville in the 2nd period, but Brockville fought back with goals from Peter Legostaev and Kayden Buller. In the 3rd period, Tyler Melvin tied it up for Kemptville, forcing the game into overtime. It was Tanner Fennell who sealed the deal for Kemptville in the extra frame. The goaltenders, Brockville’s Zane Spaniol made 35 saves and Kemptville’s Dax Easter stopped 15 shots.

The 1st period saw goals from Alex Kelloway for Rockland and Lucas Staresinic for Ottawa. Anthony Hall levelled the score for Rockland in the 2nd period, but Jordan Graham swiftly responded for Ottawa. In the decisive 3rd period, Matthew Verspeeten secured the win for Ottawa with a crucial goal. Both goaltenders put on a strong performance, with Rockland’s Sebastian Resar making 24 saves and Ottawa’s Connor Shibley stopping 28 shots.
