Carleton Place survives Cornwall comeback, wins 6-4

 

The Cornwall Colts almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Carleton Place Canadians managed to pull out a 6-4 win in the end.

Carleton Place led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Canadians' Tim Theochardis scored at 3:32 in the first period to put Carleton Place up 3-0.

 

Jordan Larson quarterbacked the Canadians' offense to perfection and bagged four assists in Carleton Place's win over Cornwall.

In a losing effort, the Colts were sparked by Tristan Elie, who registered two goals and one assist. Elie scored the first of his two goals at 9:21 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Carleton Place. Nick Lalonde assisted on the tally. Elie's next tally made the score 4-4 with 10 seconds left in the second period. Cornwall had taken the advantage when the Canadians' AJ Klein got sent off for cross checking. Parker Krol picked up the assist.

Carleton Place's offense rang up 34 shots on the Colts' net. The Canadians were hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Carleton Place also got points from Lucas Batt, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Bryce VanHorn, who also had one goal and two assists, and Brett Murray, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Connor Merkley also scored for Carleton Place. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Maxime StPierre, who had two and Will LeNeave and Nicolas Carrier, who each chipped in one.

Cornwall found itself short handed often, totaling 18 penalty minutes and allowing 10 power plays.

Cornwall additionally got points from Lawson MacDougall, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Dean Derouchie as well. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Matthew Morin, who had one and Tanner Spink, who had two.

Colton Point took the win and made 10 saves before being replaced by Adrian Clark who made six saves. For Carleton Place, LeNeave was ejected from the game. The Colts' Liam Lascelle stopped 28 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Cornwall registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
