Carleton Place outlasts Pembroke, 4-2

 

The Carleton Place Canadians gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Pembroke Lumber Kings.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Braedyn Asselstine's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

 

Lucas Batt had a great game for Carleton Place, netting two goals. Batt scored at 17:17 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 15:35 into the third to make the score 4-2 Carleton Place.

The Canadians' offense rang up 40 shots on Pembroke's net.

Carleton Place also got points from Asselstine, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Carleton Place also got a goal from Connor Merkley as well. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Kyle Dowdall, Bryce VanHorn, Brett Murray, Tim Theochardis, Maxime StPierre, and Alex Friesen, who each chipped in one.

The Lumber Kings were helped by Ben VanOoteghem, who tallied one goal. VanOoteghem scored 15:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pembroke. Mitchell Culver assisted on the tally. Wesley Ashley also scored for Pembroke. More assists for Pembroke came via Johnny Kyte and Cale List, who contributed one each.

James Edwardson recorded 28 saves for Carleton Place. The Canadians incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Pembroke's Boyd Diclemente stopped 36 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Lumber Kings incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
