Carleton Place holds on for 5-4 win against Gloucester

 

The Gloucester Rangers tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Carleton Place Canadians would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4.

A goal by Kyle Dowdall put Carleton Place up 4-2 in the second period, but Gloucester pulled to within one on Dan Martin's tally 2:04 into the third period.

 

The Canadians were led by Will LeNeave, who finished with one goal. LeNeave scored 11:22 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Carleton Place. Bryce VanHorn picked up the assist.

Carleton Place managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Canadians ended up below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Carleton Place forced the Rangers goalie Cedric Hansen to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Carleton Place additionally got points from Brett Murray, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Carleton Place included Lucas Batt and Shawn Kennedy, who each put in one. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Marcus Joseph, Tim Theochardis, Maxime StPierre, and Spencer Marshall, who contributed one each.

Gloucester surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Rangers average 1.6 goal per contest.

Gloucester was led by Vincent Guimond, who grabbed two goals. Guimond scored the first of his two goals at 4:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gloucester. Alex Cohen assisted on the tally. Guimond's next tally made the score 4-4 with 14:34 left in the third period. Jahwara Rennalls provided the assist. Gloucester also got a goal from Paul Vella as well. More assists for Gloucester came via Darcy Walsh, Matt Adams, Joe Delandro, Jordan Renaud, and Nicholas Ngwafusi, who each chipped in one.

The Canadians' Adrian Clark stopped 14 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Carleton Place registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Cedric Hansen made 30 saves for the Rangers on 35 shots. Gloucester incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
