Carleton Place beats Kanata 3-0 as Therien gains shutout

 

Guillaume Therien made 26 saves to complete the shutout and led the Carleton Place Canadians to a 3-0 win against the Kanata Stallions.

 

Carleton Place was led by Alex Robinson, who finished with one goal. Robinson scored on the power play 10:57 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place. The Canadians earned a power play opportunity when James Thomson was put in the box for holding. Devin Campbell assisted on the tally.

Carleton Place's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Kanata power plays.

Carleton Place also had goals scored by Adam Lloyd and Bryce VanHorn, who scored one goal each. More assists for Carleton Place came via Wesley Baker, who had two and Tyson Stewart and Craig Pefley, who contributed one each.

Kanata did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Stallions put an average of 2.1 pucks into the net per game. Kanata's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to the Canadians' power play unit.

Carleton Place incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Stallions' Kevan Dumouchel stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Kanata incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
