Brockville erases deficit to stun Gloucester, 3-2

 

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Brockville Braves battled back to claim a 3-2 victory over the Gloucester Rangers.

Brockville never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Braves fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Gloucester's Paul Vella at 18:17 in the first period. Brockville tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Neil Robinson at 7:44 in the second period. The Braves scored the game winner on the power play at 12:32 in the second period on a goal by Robinson.

 

Brockville was paced by Tre Folkes, who grabbed one goal.

The Braves forced the Rangers' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 56 shots and forcing 53 saves. Georgis Rentopoulos made 28 stops and Cedric Hansen made 25. Brockville managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Braves ended up below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game.

Brockville also got a goal from Michael Murray as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brockville were Jack Billings and Ian Johnston, who each chipped in three.

Gloucester was helped by Shane McCrank, who had one goal. McCrank scored on the power play 15:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gloucester. An interference penalty on Cameron Crotty had put the Rangers on the power play. Jordan Renaud assisted on the tally. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Salim Mahi-Beaudry, Sander Boroczky, and Vincent Guimond, who contributed one each.

Michael Cerasuolo made 24 saves for Brockville on 26 shots. The Braves registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Gloucester incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
