BEARS JESSE BLAIS TO PLAY FOR BROCK UNIVERSITY IN FALL

The Central Canada Hockey League & Smiths Falls Bears are pleased to announce that ’95 born forward Jesse Blais will suit up for the Brock Badgers for the 2016-17 school year.

The Stittsville, ON native began the 2015-16 season with the Pembroke Lumber Kings where he potted 16 goals and totalled 35 points in 38 games.  The Bears would acquire him at the trade deadline and he would continue his strong pace with 11 goals and 21 points in 24 combined regular season and playoff games.

Known through out the CCHL as a speedy two-way forward who plays in all situations.  Can play any position on the power-play as well as defend on the penalty kill.  Provides a strong fore-check and finishes his checks, and is willing to go to the dirty areas.  Generates good speed with the puck through the neutral zone and feeds his teammates with well-timed passes.  Can play set-up man but can also finish.

Blais originally began his CCHL career with the Bears after they drafted him 15th overall in the 2010 Bantam Protect Draft from the Ottawa Valley Titans program.  He would spend his first two seasons in Smiths Falls before stints in both Kemptville and most recently Pembroke before the Bears brought him back to finish his junior career.

In 310 games of CCHL action, Blais scored a total of 100 goals, and had a combined point total of 229 points.

He now heads to Brock University in St. Catherines, ON where he will begin his freshman season with the Badgers this coming fall.  Blais will add some much needed support to a program that was in a rebuild last season.
