OTTAWA, ON – There were seventeen Central Canada Hockey League alumni playing in the NCAA Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) during the 2022-23 school year. Below we will take a closer look at the seasons that were for Simon Labelle, Yaniv Perets, Ethan Manderville, Ryan Richardson, and Jordan Power.
SIMON LABELLE (ROCKLAND NATIONALS) – COLGATE UNIVERSITY
The Rockland Nationals alum stepped into his Freshmen season with Colgate and immediately made an impact as a college rookie. His 15-points on the year placed him first overall among Raiders rookies as he helped his school to an ECAC Championship. The Computer Science major has excelled at every level he has played at and is expected to become an even bigger part of the Raiders offence for next season and beyond.
YANIV PERETS (BROCKVILLE) – QUINNIPIAC UNIVERSITY
The Brockville Braves alumni put together yet another spectacular season, being named an NCAA All USCHO 2nd Team All-Star, NCAA East 2nd Team All-American, and being named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award as National Player of the Year as he helped lead Quinnipiac to a National Title. He was named ECAC Goaltender of the Month for January, while also earning Conference Goaltender of the Week honours on three occasions. At the conclusion of his season he signed a two-year entry-level contract with the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes.
ETHAN MANDERVILLE (OTTAWA JR SENS/KANATA LASERS) – COLGATE UNIVERSITY
The Ottawa, ON native and two-time CCHL Champion with the Ottawa Jr Senators took another step forward in his Senior season where he tied his career-high in Points (16) while setting a new career-high in Goals (8) in 34 games of action. His 7 Power-play markers placed him tied for 3rd in the Conference. At 6-4 and 225lbs, the Political Science Major is a prototypical power-forward with good hands in tight. It is yet to be determined where Manderville will land for the 2023-24 season at the time of publishing.
RYAN RICHARDSON (SMITHS FALLS BEARS) – CLARKSON UNIVERSITY
The former Smiths Falls Bears star who was a CCHL 1st Team All-Star in 2019-20 when he led the league in Goals with 37 set career highs with the Golden Knights in 2022-23 in both Goals (5) and Points (14) in 37 games. Majoring in Innovation & Entrepreneurship, the big two-way forward is very hard to play against and always takes pucks hard to the net. He will look to continue his trend upwards as he heads into his Junior season.
JORDAN POWER (ROCKLAND NATIONALS) – CLARKSON UNIVERSITY
Another former Rockland Nationals standout, Power continued his consistent play from the blue-line in his third collegiate season, tying his career high in Points (13) in 37 games of action. Majoring in both Finance and Communication, Media & Design, Power officially entered the transfer portal this Spring and will join Minnesota State for his Senior campaign in 2023-24.
