TWO CCHL ALUMNI MAKE UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA GEE-GEES AS WALK-ONS

The Central Canada Hockey League is pleased to announce that Ottawa Jr Sens alumni Mitchell Gibson and Cumberland Grads alumni Mathieu Dubois have both earned spots with the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees Hockey Program for the 2016-17 hockey season.

Gibson, a native of Campbellford, ON scored 31 goals and totalled 65 points in 75 combined regular season and playoff games for the Jr Sens this past season.  The '95 born forward also represented the CCHL All-Graduate Team in their Exhibition match-up Vs NCAA III SUNY Oswego Lakers where he notched a goal and caused all sorts of havoc in front of the Lakers net.

Gibson is a big two-way forward who skates well and has good hands.  He has the speed and strength to rush the puck and power his way to the front of the net.  He embraces the defensive side of the game as he back-checks hard and supports his defensemen.  With continued development, Gibson has a good opportunity to play hockey at the professional level.

Dubois, who hails from Sherbrooke, QC had a solid lone season with the Grads where he scored 19 goals and finished with 34 points in 49 total regular season and playoff games.

The 6-0, 180 lb winger plays an “In your face” style of game and is always moving his feet and pressuring the play.  He can help out on both the power-play and penalty-kill and is a solid role player as he can be penciled in anywhere in the lineup depending on the pace of the game.  He will keep opposing players honest as spark the play of his teammates due to his physical play.
