Release | Hawks Mark Cooper named 2021-22 Top Graduating Player

Ottawa, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League is pleased to announce that Hawkesbury Hawks captain Mark Cooper has been voted the 2021-22 Top Graduating Player.

The 2001 born Cambridge, ON native sits tied for 2nd in CCHL scoring among defensemen with 48 points (11G, 37A) through 51 games of action. Over the course of his CCHL career between the Hawks and Carleton Place Canadians, Cooper has amassed 95 points (21G, 74A) in 126 games.

Acquired by Hawkesbury from Carleton Place back in 2019, Cooper really came into his own as a member of the Hawks, solidifying one of the top defences in the league over that time and eventually being named team captain.

Cooper has a deceptive skill-set which make defending opponents have to guess what he is going to do when he is on the attack or defending. He shoots the puck with variety to get it through traffic and on net and has really developed a his one-timer over the past three seasons. He is a smooth skater who can make plays under pressure and defensively has high-end gap control and an active stick which lead to take-aways and a quick transition up ice.

“Mark has been a key piece to our teams success,” said Hawks Head Coach Rick Dorval. Playing 25+ minutes a game in all situations. He has been a tremendous leader to get our rookies up to speed.”
