Ottawa, ON — In a high-scoring game, the Carleton Place Canadians came out on top 6-3 over the Cornwall Colts.

In a fast-paced game, Carleton Place defeated Cornwall 6-3. Cornwall initially took a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Warner and Speck-Meek, but Carleton Place responded late with three quick goals from Bouwer, Barton and Prud’homme to take the lead. The second period saw Joe Devlin score his first CCHL goal making it 4-2 Carleton Place. Cornwall’s McCuaig scored before Carleton Place extended the lead with a goal from Kay. In the third, Bouwer added an empty-net goal to secure the 6-3 victory. Despite strong efforts from Cornwall, including 39 shots on goal, Carleton Place’s goalie Vandenberg was stellar, making 36 saves. Cornwall’s Chabot had 9 saves on 12 shots before being replaced by Melcher, who stopped 18 of 20 shots. Power play opportunities were limited, with Cornwall failing to convert on four chances, while Carleton Place scored once on two attempts.
