The Jr. 'A' Nepean Raiders (CCHL), losers of five straight games, made two blockbuster trades on Monday.

The first one sent overage captain Brandon Watt to the Ottawa Jr. Senators for a player development fee, draft picks and players to be named (after the season). Watt, a Barrhaven native, has played for the Raiders for the past 4 1/2 seasons.

In the second transaction of the day, assistant Shane Riddell, an overage defenceman from Cardinal (Ontario), has been dealt to Kemptville 73's for a PDF and draft picks.

According to a team source, the 13-18-0-1 Raiders, who have fallen on hard times and out of the league's Top-8, are looking to acquire some young talent, but will also give some of their own prospects an opportunity to play with the team.

"There are plenty of quality players in the organization who will get an opportunity to step forward and contribute," the source added.

In another move, 19-year-old goaltender Daniel Urbani, one of four net-minders employed by Nepean this season, was also released on Monday.

Head coach Peter Goulet (pictured) has yet to respond to a Barrhaven Independent request for comment.

Nepean's next two games are both against the Braves Friday (Dec. 5) in Brockville and Sunday (Dec. 7) at the Nepean Sportsplex. –30–
