Questions + Answers – Liam Lascelle

Ottawa, Ontario – With the playoffs underway, all the players have their focus on going all the way and winning the championship. It’s also the chance to help reflect what got you to the dance in the first place, especially if you are in your final year of the league. Carlos Verde got the chance to talk to Cornwall Colts goaltender, Liam Lascelle about his career and his final playoff push in the CCHL

CV: Liam, obviously, end of your 20-year here. You’ve still got the playoffs ahead, but just reflecting on your career, what are some of the high points for you with the hometown organization?

LL: Going back to my first win when I was 16, that was pretty special. Last year we went on a run of like 25-2-2 or something like that, that was fun. This year, playing 50 games was a goal that I wanted and I hit it in the last game. Over parts of three and a half season, I’ve had a pretty good time.

CV: 3,000 career saves for you, they probably blend together. But something that never goes away are the memories with your teammates — any moments or guys off-ice that stand out?

LL: Tough to narrow down there, now. Last three years I’ve had a lot of fun with guys on and off the ice. I’m definitely going to miss them the most, when it’s all over. But like you said, we’ve got playoffs, a couple more weeks ahead, so I’m just going to try and enjoy it. CV: In terms of what’s next for you, CCHL top goaltender, any inkling of where you might be headed going forward?

LL: No, not right now. It’s something I’ll probably just plan out when the season’s over, but for now I’m just staying focused on playoffs.

CV: This group, some signature wins. How do you guys feel you matchup with top four teams?

LL: We can definitely hold our own. Coming in as underdogs, I think some teams don’t want to play us. We’re going in with that mentality that the pressure’s on them, not us. So we’ll see what happens.
