Pembroke uses shootout to best Ottawa, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

 

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Pembroke Lumber Kings defeated the Ottawa Senators in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for 12 attempts between the teams. Ottawa got a shootout goal from Jody Sullivan. Pembroke's other shootout goal was scored by Nicolas Vlahos.

 

The Lumber Kings were led by goalie Gabe Mollot-Hill, who finished with 41 saves while allowing one goal. Mollot-Hill managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.38 prior to the game.

Pembroke excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Lumber Kings were led by Tyler ONeill, who tallied one goal. ONeill scored on the power play 3:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pembroke. A tripping penalty on Cameron White had put Pembroke on the power play. Patrick Kyte picked up the assist. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Alex Gilmour, who had one.

The Senators' offense operated below their season average. Ottawa averages 3.4 goals per game. The Senators' offense rang up 42 shots on the Lumber Kings' net.

Ottawa was led by Jaren Burke, who scored the team's only goal. Burke scored 5:16 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Daniel Sarracco assisted on the tally.

Pembroke incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Marcus Paulino made 20 saves for the Senators on 21 shots. Ottawa incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
