Pearson nets hat trick, leads Ottawa to 5-2 win over Brockville

 

The Brockville Braves could not stop the Ottawa Senators' Jim Pearson, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-2 win.

Pearson notched his first tally 14:17 into the first period. He then added goals at 46 seconds into the third and at 3:37 into the third.

 

Ottawa pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes.

The Senators was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play.

Ottawa also got points from Isaac Anderson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Alexandre Way also scored for Ottawa. More assists for Ottawa came via Carl Faucher, who had two, Joey Champigny, who had three, and Robert Michel, Sean Rappleyea, and Ryan Cranford, who each chipped in one.

Brockville was helped by Jack Patterson, who finished with one goal. Patterson scored on the power play 12:03 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Ottawa. The Braves had gotten the advantage when Ottawa's Michel was sent off for cross checking. Eric Israel picked up the assist. Brockville additionally got points from Israel, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Brockville received assists from Ethan Weiss and Liam Folkes, who contributed one each.

Ian Andriano recorded 21 saves for the Senators. Mitchell Datz made 14 saves for Brockville on 19 shots. The Braves incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
