Ottawa downs Cumberland in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

 

Daniel Sarracco gave the Ottawa Senators a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Cumberland Grads when he scored 1:18 into the extra period.

 

Samuel Meisenheimer and Sarracco provided the spark for Ottawa, combining for three goals and one assist. Meisenheimer registered two goals and Sarracco also added one goal and one assist.

Cumberland's power play was ineffective against the Senators' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Ottawa stifled the Grads' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Senators forced Cumberland goalie Thierry Messervier to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. Ottawa could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

Ottawa also got points from Sarracco, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Ottawa included Elie Boulerice and Jim Pearson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Sean Rappleyea, who had two and Alexandre Way, Isaac Anderson, Bruno Cheff, and Zacharie Car, who contributed one each.

The Grads could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Cumberland was led by Michael Larose, who tallied two goals and one assist. Larose scored the first of his two goals at 15:34 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Alex Cote picked up the assist. Larose's next tally made the score 4-4 with 20 seconds left in the third period. Zackhary Salloum assisted on the tally. Cumberland additionally got points from Shawn Cameron, who also had one goal and one assist. Cumberland also got a goal from Mathieu Dubois as well. More assists for Cumberland came via Matthieu Franche and Raphael Larose, who each chipped in one.

Ian Andriano rejected 24 shots on goal for the Senators. Ottawa registered one goal on nine power play opportunities. Messervier recorded 37 saves for the Grads.
