NHL Alum York Joins Kemptville Staff

Kemptville, Ont. —

The Kemptville 73’s announced this morning the addition of former NHL player Jason York to their staff as an assistant coach.
York, 47, began his junior career with the then-CJHL Smiths Falls Bears in 1986-87 prior to embarking on a 10-year NHL career with stops in Anaheim, Ottawa, Nashville and Boston.
The Nepean native, who already serves as the team’s director of hockey operations, will join another former NHLer — head coach and former Pittsburgh Penguin Rob Dopson — on the 73’s bench.
The 73’s open their season tomorrow at the showcase against Ottawa (7:30 p.m., Bell Sensplex); Kemptville’s home opener is Sunday, Sept. 10, when it will host Carleton Place (5:30 p.m., N.G.M.C.).
