MAROTTE BREAKS MINUTES PLAYED RECORD, TIES GAMES PLAYED

It came down to the wire but Nepean Raiders goaltender Francis Marotte's heavy workload earned him a Central Canada Hockey League record on Saturday night against the Ottawa Jr Senators.  Marotte would start his 55th game of the season which tied the league record which was previously solely held since 2008-09 by former Kanata Stallion Stephane Cesar.  Marotte would however leap-frog Cesar for the Single Season Minutes Played record as he needed just 23 minutes in todays game to break the previous record of 3177 minutes and now holds the new record of 3220:16.  The Raiders would defeat Ottawa 4-3.

Although he finished the season with a 19-29-5 record, the Longeuil, QC native gave Nepean a chance to pick up points every game as he finished with a 3.02 GAA and .913 SV% while also stopping 1702 shots, 334 more than the next goalie in that category.

It was surely a bittersweet record to claim as Nepean's season came to a close as they failed to make playoffs.  Marotte will now turn his attention to the offseason and prepare to head off to NCAA Robert Morris University this coming fall.
