Jankowski winner of the Sportsmanship and Ability award.

Hawkesbury, Ontario – The Central Canada Hockey League announced today that Hawkesbury Hawks forward and captain, David Jankowski has been named the winner of the 2017/18 Sportsmanship and Ability award.

David Jankowski was a lock for the award since the season began. His coaches and teammates always praised presence in the locker room and how he is a great teammate on and off the ice. The 20 year old continues to stay humble and thanks his peers for all the support this season.

“I just try to show up to the rink and lead by example and make sure I show up to the rink 100% every day,” says Jankowski. “I just try to get the boys to follow along and I try to make sure everyone is ready to get every single day.”

Jankowski also said it’s an honour to be selected for this award as he takes pride in making others around him better on and off the ice.

“We have a young team and for a lot of guys, it’s their first year of junior hockey so I just try to lead by example.”

The St. Lawrence University commit leads the league in goals (38) and points with 88. He leads the league in power-play goals and is third in assists (50) while playing 58 games with the Hawks this season.

Jankowski says that the award means a lot to him but is now focused on helping his team go deep into the playoffs.
