Hawkesbury outlasts Pembroke, 4-3

 

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Hawkesbury Hawks escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Pembroke Lumber Kings.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Jonathan Cyr secured the win for Hawkesbury with a goal in the third period.

 

The Hawks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 18 penalty minutes.

Hawkesbury was sparked by Cyr, who grabbed one goal. Cyr scored 13:38 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Hawkesbury. Nathan Sanderson provided the assist.

The Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Pembroke power plays.

Hawkesbury additionally got points from Damien Charette, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Bruno Cheff, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Hawkesbury also got a goal from Christopher Smith as well. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Adriano Leone and Jonathan Tecce, who contributed one each.

Pembroke's offense rang up 33 shots on Hawkesbury's net. The Lumber Kings struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 21 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

Pembroke was helped by Brett Horn, who registered one goal. Horn scored 5:35 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Hawkesbury. Brock Rumbaugh assisted on the tally. Pembroke also got points from Brandon Zullo, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jesse Blais also scored for Pembroke. More assists for Pembroke came via Nicolas Vlahos and Adam Beveridge, who each chipped in one.

Andrew Tucci rejected 30 shots on goal for the Hawks. The Lumber Kings' Gabe Mollot-Hill stopped 22 shots out of the 26 that he faced. For Pembroke, Beveridge was ejected from the game.
