Gongshow February Stars of the Month

Ottawa, Ontario – The Central Canada Hockey League is to announce that Carleton Place Canadians forward Travis Broughman, Brockville Braves forward Eric Holland and Canadians defenseman Tim Theocharidis have been named the Gongshow Stars of the Month for February.

First Star:

Broughman, 20, scored six goals and totaled 12 points over seven games last month. The un-committed forward had one game winning goal and helped the Canadians to a 7-0 record.

Broughman gives most of his credit this season to his teammates for helping him put up all the points “My success has come from my team. Without them I definitely would not be having the success I’m having right now without them.”

He is currently sixth in scoring with 63 points and his 30 goals tanks tied for fourth in the CCHL.

Second Star:

Holland, 19, scored the month of February with nine goals in four contests before only scoring one goal in his last eight contests. The Whitby, Ontario native scored 10 goals and gathered 12 points over 13 games, helping the Braves to a 9-4 record. He also scored two hat-tricks and two game winning goals.

“This is a huge honour that I could not have done without my teammates and coaching staff,” said Holland after his impressive month. “This team has been working hard all season and it’s nice to see the work paying off together as a group and on a personal level.”

Eric Holland also expressed a lot more love for his teammates “I’d like to give a shoutout to my linemates, McArthur and Jefferson. When we are on our game we can accomplish great things and hopefully we can keep that heading into the playoffs.”

He currently has 24 goals and 48 points with the Brave this season, helping them to an impressive third place 35-19-4 record.

Third Star:

Theochardidis, 19, scored five goals and 13 points in seven games, also helping the Canadians to a 7-0 record through February. The Pickering, Ontario native scored a hat-trick at the beginning of the month and had an overtime winner against Ottawa last Sunday.

Like his teammate Broughman, Theocharidis also praised his teams overall play for his success.

“As a team, I want to make sure we are working on the little things and executing them,” says Theocharidis. “The only way we can have the offense that we do is because it all starts with having good defensive zone coverage. If that is now executed we would not be where we are right now.”

Theocharidis leads all defenseman in points with 53 over 55 games and now ranks first in goals with 18.

We would like to congratulate these three young men on a wonderful month. The CCHL will be announcing the end of the year awards starting Monday.
