Gloucester’s comeback falls short, Kemptville wins 5-3

The Kemptville 73s came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Gloucester Rangers, but did just enough to escape with a 5-3 victory.

Kemptville led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the 73s’ Alex Row scored on the power play at 2:02 in the third period to put Kemptville up 4-1.

Matt Tugnutt was all over the ice for the 73s, as he had two goals in the win. Tugnutt scored at 7:28 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Kemptville and again while 8:33 into the third to make the score 5-3 Kemptville.

Kemptville’s offense rang up 37 shots on Gloucester’s net.

Kemptville additionally got points from Cameron Russell, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Dean Kiriacou also scored for Kemptville. More assists for Kemptville came via Brandon Cole, who had two and Kaelan OFlynn, Adam Alavi, Owen Guy, and Bobby Dow, who each chipped in one.

The Rangers kept the 73s’ goalie busy throughout the game, and Nicholas Hodgins made 28 saves on 31 shots.

Gloucester was helped by Vincent Guimond, who registered one goal. Guimond scored 9:08 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kemptville. Alex Cohen assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Gloucester included Paul Vella and Shane McCrank, who scored one goal each. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Darcy Walsh and Jaren Burke, who contributed one each.

Kemptville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cedric Hansen made 32 saves for the Rangers on 37 shots. Gloucester incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
