Gloucester rides Johnston to victory over Cumberland, 3-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Doug Johnston helped the Gloucester Rangers defeat the Cumberland Grads, 3-1.

Gloucester pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes.

The Rangers were sparked by Joey Fallon, who grabbed one goal. Fallon scored 5:14 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Gloucester. Zachary Borsoi provided the assist.

Gloucester’s offense rang up 39 shots on Cumberland’s net.

Gloucester additionally got points from Matt Foget, who also registered one goal and two assists. Gloucester also got a goal from Matt Adams as well. More assists for Gloucester came via Chris Morgan, who had one.

The Grads kept the Rangers’ goalie busy throughout the game, and Johnston made 41 saves on 42 shots.

Cumberland was led by Branden Makara, who scored the team’s only goal. Makara scored on the power play 14:07 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Grads earned a power play opportunity when Logan Blaser was put in the box for tripping. Travis Douglas picked up the assist.

Gloucester registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Kevin Gollmer rejected 36 shots on goal for Cumberland. The Grads incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
