Friday Recap: Canadians roll, Petizian shines

Carleton Place 5, Pembroke 1

Five different players found the net for the Carleton Place Canadians as they spoiled the School Day Game party in Pembroke with a 5-1 win over the hometown Lumber Kings.

Jeremie Forget stopped 24 of 25 shots in net for first-place Carleton Place (17-2-1), while Jake Smith allowed five goals on 46 shots en route to the loss for Pembroke (9-8-0).

C.P. led 4-0 after 26 minutes and shifted into cruise control from that point onwards; this was the second time in two weeks that the league leaders dominated the Lumber Kings in their own barn.

Hawkesbury 4, Brockville 0

All-graduate defenceman Colin Stevens paced the Hawkesbury Hawks with three points (1G, 2A) in a 4-0 win over Brockville on Friday night.

Goaltender Matt Petizian pitched a 40-save shutout between the pipes for the Hawks (10-5-0), while Justin Evenson was pulled in the loss for Brockville (10-9-0).

Tyler Boivin had a multi-point effort (1G, 1A) in the Hawkesbury win, while captain David Jankowski potted an assist and now has points in six of his last seven.

Rockland 3, Kemptville 2

Connor Beatty’s third-period winner and stellar play down the stretch from netminder Sean Storr led the Rockland Nationals to a tight 3-2 win over the Kemptville 73’s on Friday night.

Cole Lavoie had a pair of assists in the win for Rockland (11-5-2); Neal Samanski and Liam Hunter had the goals for the sliding 73’s (3-14-1).

Drew Shields and Michael Keating also scored for Rockland.

Kanata 3, Cornwall 1

The Kanata Lasers reversed an early deficit to down the visiting Cornwall Colts 3-1 on Friday night at the KRC.

Ethan Manderville, Connor Sleeth and Connor Noonan found the mark for Nathan Hewitt’s Lasers (8-9-3); Cameron Hebert scored the lone goal for Cornwall (9-9-2).

Kanata goaltender Joe Marcouiller stopped 26 of 27 shots en route to his second CCHL victory.

Cornwall was once again outshot by 10-plus.
