First Crop of CCHL Alumni named to NHL Development Camp Rosters

It is still early yet as the majority of NHL teams have yet to announce their Summer Development Camp rosters but a few have and five CCHL alumni will be attending.

Former Smiths Falls Bears & Kemptville 73's forward Blaine Byron will be taking part at the Pittsburgh Penguins camp alongside former Ottawa Jr Sens defenseman Robert Michel.  Byron spent two seasons in the CCHL where he racked up 25 goals and 93 points in 102 games between the Kemptville 73's & Smiths Falls Bears.  Michel spent two seasons with the Ottawa Jr Sens where he totalled 24 goals and 85 points in 117 games, he was named as the CCHL Top Defenseman in 2014-15.  Both players are teammates at the University of Maine.

A couple of Carleton Place Canadians alumni will also be attending camps as recent 5th round draft pick Colton Point will attend his first NHL Development Camp with the Dallas Stars while Kelly Summers will be attending his third camp with the Ottawa Senators.  Point will join Colgate University this coming fall while Summers goes into his junior season with Clarkson University.

Josh Pitt, who was a member of the Kemptville 73's & Ottawa Jr Sens from 2008-2012 before spending four seasons at Western Michigan University will be attending the Washington Capitals Development Camp.

More information will be coming as the remainder of NHL teams announce their rosters.
