Commitment Alert | Grads Gabriel Crete commits to NCAA Colgate for 2020

Ottawa, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League and Navan Grads are pleased to announce that forward Gabriel Crete has verbally committed to NCAA Colgate University for the 2020-21 school year.

The 2003 born Gloucester, ON native is in his rookie season with the Grads, where he has totaled 2 points (1G, 1A) in 2 games of action thus far. Last season, the two-way forward managed to put up 45 points (21G, 24A) in 42 games with the Navan Grads U18 program in HEO Midget AAA.

On Saturday, September 14th, 2019 at the CCHL Showcase Crete scored his first CCHL goal vs. the Brockville Braves in his first CCHL game of the season.  Navan Grads General Manager and Head Coach Marty Abrams had this to say about Crete’s NCAA commitment to Colgate University, “Our entire organization is proud of Gabriel’s recent commitment to Colgate University. As a graduate of our Navan Grads U18 program and current member of our Jr. A team, Gabriel has worked extremely hard both on and off the ice. Gabriel is a fierce competitor and great teammate; which are valued attributes in our program. We look forward to assisting him in his continued development this season in the CCHL.”

Crete said, “What impressed me the most is the state-of-the-art Arena on campus and the coaching staff.  They made me feel like I’m already apart of the Colgate family.”

Crete added, “I believe the NCAA is the right path for me because it will allow me more time to develop and mature as a hockey player and person. Committing to Colgate University will provide me with an incredible opportunity both academically and athletically. The opportunity to play Division I college hockey and graduate with a degree was a major priority for myself and my family.”

He is the second CCHL talent to commit to Colgate University for 2020-21, joining Rockland Nationals forward Simon Labelle.
