Commitment Alert | Bears Jacob Cuffley to join NCAA Utica College in 2019-20

Ottawa, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League is pleased to announce that Smiths Falls Bears defenseman Jacob Cuffley has committed to NCAA Division 3 Utica College for the 2019-20 season.

The 1998 born Kanata, ON native is in his first season with the Smiths Falls Bears after being acquired from the OJHL’s Markham Royals last summer. In 62 games of action this season, Cuffley finished atop Bears scoring among blue-liners with 37 points (14G, 23A). He also earned Academic Player of the Month in November.

Cuffley previously spent time in the CCHL with the Kanata Lasers (2014-2015), Brockville Braves (2015-16) while also skating in the Tier 2 ranks with the Almonte Thunder (EOJHL) and Perth Blue Wings (CCHL2). He is a graduate of the Ottawa Valley Titans AAA program.

“I was very excited at the opportunity of playing my final year back home in the CCHL,” said Cuffley. “The Smiths Falls Bears organization treats their players like professionals, and prepares them for the next level. Having the opportunity to continue playing hockey at Utica College is a privilege, and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead.”
