CCHL Teams Supporting #PinkTheRink Campaign

The Central Canada Hockey League’s member teams have undetaken a number of initiatives during the month of October to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.

The Rockland Nationals hosted a #PinkTheRink game on Oct. 21 against Brockville, raising $519 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

In Smiths Falls, the Bears are slated to host their fourth-annual #PinkTheRink game on Fri. Oct. 27; the event will feature a chuck-a-puck, silent auction — including a Toronto Maple Leafs Mitch Marner jersey — and 50/50 draw. In addition, the hometown team will play in special pink sweaters.

Other teams have donned pink apparel during the month of October to raise awareness; many of the Navan Grads have worn pink pant laces, while every member of the Ottawa Jr. Senators has a taped pink stripe along the top of their dark-blue helmets.

In another community initiative,  the Carleton Place Canadians have partnered with Shaw Direct on a “Dollars for Goals” program which sees the satellite television company donate $100/win to KidSport.

As of Wednesday, the program had contributed $1,800 to the organization, which helps remove barriers for under-resourced children who want to participate in sport.
