CCHL Recap | Nepean, Nationals, Grads, Bears and Lumber Kings Win Sunday

Ottawa, ON – Five games took place in the Central Canada Hockey League Sunday afternoon and evening. To start up Sunday afternoon the Nepean Raiders hosted the Kemptville 73’s, where in a shootout, the Raiders won 1-0. The Rockland Nationals hosted the Brockville Braves, after 60-minutes the Nationals won 6-3. The Navan Grads hosted the Carleton Place Canadians, the Grads won 5-1. The Smiths Falls Bears hosted the Hawkesbury Hawks, in overtime the Bears won 3-2. For our Sunday evening game, the Pembroke Lumber Kings hosted the Renfrew Wolves, where the Lumber Kings won 5-2.

F | Kemptville 0 Nepean 1 (SO)

Kemptville and Nepean battled through three periods and an overtime session without a single goal being scored. The goaltenders, Jacob Biron for Kemptville and Brady McEwan for Nepean, displayed stellar performances, making 28 and 24 saves, respectively. The game was ultimately decided in a shootout, where Curtiss Sturgeon netted the lone goal for Nepean. 

F | Brockville 3 Rockland 6

The first period saw goals from Thomas Cormier for Brockville and Samuel Dumont for Rockland. The intensity continued into the second period, with Xavier Laurent and Aidan Dres finding the net for Rockland, while Kayden Buller responded for Brockville. The third period witnessed two more goals from Samuel Dumont and Kyle Leonard for Rockland, and Jesse Lumsden added one for Brockville. Brockville goaltender Zane Spaniol made 41-saves. Rockland goaltender Benoit Forget made 10-saves

F | Carleton Place 1 Navan 5

Colin Holmes and Nicholas Paone found the net in the first period, followed by a strong second period with two goals from Colin MacDougall and one from Gabriel Crete. Lleyton McLean managed to score a lone goal for Carleton Place in the third period. Carleton Place starting goaltender Ian Vandenberg made 24-saves, replaced by Ty Ferguson who made 6-saves, while Navan’s Jaeden Nelson made 30 saves. 

F | Hawkesbury 2 Smiths Falls 3 (OT)

The first period saw goals from Shaymus Stevenson for Smiths Falls and Alexis Billequey for Hawkesbury. Garrison Schultz added another for Hawkesbury in the second period, while Shaymus Stevenson tallied his second for Smiths Falls. Tyson Parker extended the lead for Smiths Falls in the third period, but Jacob Skoczylas responded for Hawkesbury. The game-winner came in overtime, courtesy of Shaymus Stevenson for Smiths Falls. Hawkesbury goaltender Dimitri Pelekos made 38-saves. Smiths Falls goaltender Maverick Welk made 16-saves

F | Renfrew 2 Pembroke 5

Maverick Hayes and Dane Carter exchanged goals in the first period. Cam Hicklin added another for Pembroke in the second period. The third period saw Pembroke extend their lead with goals from Cam Hicklin, Vital Dinis, and Easton Penna, while Mathieu Paquin scored one for Renfrew. Renfrew goaltender Nolan Lane makes 29-saves. Pembroke goaltender Kevin Jones makes 32-saves
