CCHL Recap | Nepean, Carleton Place, Rockland and Pembroke Win Sunday Night

Ottawa, ON – Four games on Sunday night ended with Nepean, Carleton Place, Rockland and Pembroke winning their games. 

F | Kemptville 5 Nepean 6 (OT)

The game started with Nicholas Bennett of Kemptville and Owen Hardy of Nepean each finding the back of the net in the 1st period. Nepean then exploded in the 2nd period with goals from Curtiss Sturgeon, Nicolas Papineau, and Joshua Reid, while Grady Logue responded for Kemptville.

The 3rd period saw a comeback from Kemptville, with Nicholas Bennett and Grady Logue each netting two goals, but Nicolas Papineau added another for Nepean, forcing the game into overtime.

In the extra frame, Joshua Reid of Nepean emerged as the hero, scoring the game-winning goal. The goaltenders, Jacob Biron for Kemptville and John Gedraitis for Nepean, delivered impressive performances with 33 and 30 saves.

F | Brockville 3 Carleton Place 5

The game kicked off with goals from Zach Biniaris and Owen Watson of Brockville during the 1st period. Carleton Place came back strong in the 2nd period, with two goals from Will Soloway and one from Dylan Pollock.

Entering the 3rd period, Bill Gourgon and Owen Brady added to Carleton Place’s lead, but Owen Watson managed to pull one back for Brockville. The game remained intense, but Carleton Place held on to secure the win. Both goaltenders, Dax Easter for Brockville and Jackson Pundyk for Carleton Place, displayed remarkable skill with 28 and 25 saves.

F | Rockland 5 Navan 4 (SO)

The 1st period was action-packed, featuring two goals from Anthony Hall and one from Kyle Leonard for Rockland, while Colin Holmes and Sebbie Johnson found the back of the net for Navan.

Navan answered with a goal by Gabriel Crete in the 2nd period. The 3rd period saw goals from Kyle Slingerland for Navan and Samuel Dumont for Rockland, pushing the game to overtime, where neither team managed to score.

Ultimately, the game was decided in a thrilling shootout, with Jaden Davis of Rockland securing the game-winning goal.

F | Cornwall 3 Pembroke 4

The 1st period featured goals from Eric Barnard for Pembroke and responses from Etienne Lessard and Nathan Garnier for Cornwall. The 2nd period saw Ethan Montroy extending Cornwall’s lead, countered by Vital Dinis for Pembroke.

In the final period, Pembroke staged a remarkable comeback, with goals from Andrew Schmidt and Vital Dinis. Despite Cornwall’s relentless efforts, they couldn’t level the score. Goaltender Xander Miceli of Cornwall made 23 saves, but it was Kevin Jones of Pembroke who stole the show with an outstanding 38-save performance.
