CCHL Recap | Braves, Canadians, Lumber Kings and Nationals Win Friday Night

Ottawa, ON – Five games took place in the Central Canada Hockey League this Friday evening. The Brockville Braves hosted the Ottawa Junior Senators, the Braves ended the game in 60-minutes with a 4-1 win. The Carleton Place Canadians traveled to see the Smiths Falls Bears, with the game going into overtime, the Canadians won 5-4. The Pembroke Lumber Kings went to visit the Hawkesbury Hawks, where the Lumber Kings won 5-2. In a Rockland Nationals home game against the Navan Grads, the Nationals win 3-2 in a shootout.

F | Ottawa 1 Brockville 4

Ben Albright scored first for Ottawa, but Brockville responded with goals from Kimani Eccleston and Liam Cardiff. In the final period, Eccleston and Lucas Culhane sealed the win. Goaltender Connor Shibley made 20 saves for Ottawa, while Brockville’s Dustin Riff stopped 24 shots.

F | Carleton Place 5 Smiths Falls 4 (OT)

Carleton Place’s Thomas Enrietto and Smiths Falls’ Matthew Martin-Gaudreault traded goals. Carleton then saw scores from William Bouwer, Caton Ryan, and Lleyton McLean, but Smiths Falls forced overtime with Kyle James and Matthew Dimaline. Mathieu Fehr secured the win in OT. Carleton’s Aidan Feddema made 34 saves, and Smiths Falls’ Dax Easter made 13.

F | Pembroke 5 Hawkesbury 2

Hawkesbury’s Charlie Blewett and Cam Hicklin found the back of the net in the 1st period, countered by Alexis Billequey and Alex Fournier for Hawkesbury in the 2nd. The 2nd period saw Pembroke’s response from Cam Hicklin and Eric Barnard, and Maverick Hayes sealed the win in the 3rd. Goaltender Kevin Jones made 19 saves for Pembroke, while Hawkesbury’s starting goaltender Dimitri Pelekos stopped 16 shots before being replaced by Caleb Chabot, who made 19 saves.

F | Navan 2 Rockland 3 (SO)

Shaan Kingwell and Colin MacDougall scored for Navan in the 1st and 2nd periods, respectively. The 3rd period and overtime remained scoreless, leading to a decisive shootout where Aidan Dres secured the win for Rockland. Goaltender Jaeden Nelson made 31 saves for Navan, while Benoit Forget made 27 saves for Rockland.
