CCHL Recap | Bears, Hawks, 73’s, Colts and Wolves Win Friday Evening

Ottawa, ON – To start off Friday nights five games in the Central Canada Hockey League, the Smiths Falls Bears visited the Brockville Braves where the Bears won 5-3. The Hawkesbury Hawks hosted the Ottawa Junior Senators, after 60-minutes the Hawks won 5-1. The Kemptville 73’s hosted the Nepean Raiders, the 73’s won 6-0 in a shutout. The Cornwall Colts traveled to the Rockland Nationals, where after 60-minutes the Colts won 4-2. The Renfrew Wolves visited the Carleton Place Canadians, where the Wolves won 3-2 in overtime.

F | Smiths Falls 5 Brockville 3

Brockville took an early lead with goals from Jesse Lumsden and Kayden Buller. However, Smiths Falls fought back with Travis Ouellette’s marker. The second period saw Aidan Carolan extending Brockville’s lead, but Lucas Culhane and Trevor Faucher responded for Smiths Falls. The decisive third period belonged to Shaymus Stevenson, netting two goals for the victory. Goaltender Nikolas Trakakis made 19 saves for Smiths Falls, while Zane Spaniol made 45 saves for Brockville

F | Ottawa 1 Hawkesbury 5

The first period featured goals from Alex Fournier and Alexis Minville. Aidan Stubbings and Fournier struck again in the second. In the third, Felix Beauchemin added another for Hawkesbury, while Matthew Verspeeten got one for Ottawa. Goaltender Caleb Chabot for Hawkesbury made 42 saves, while Ottawa’s starting goaltender Connor Shibley makes 19-saves, replaced by Will Mizenko who makes 15-saves.

F | Nepean 0 Kemptville 6

Tyler Melvin and Nicholas Esposito scored in the first, followed by Ryan Rutley and Tyler Melvin in the second. The final period saw Owen Redmond and Emile Trottier extending Kemptville’s lead. Goaltender Jacob Biron secured a shutout with 19 saves, while Nepean’s starting goaltender Brady McEwan makes 17-saves, replaced by John Gedraitis who makes 3-saves.

F | Cornwall 4 Rockland 2

Nathan Garnier’s two goals, along with scores from Kobe Tallman and Tristan Miron, secured the win for Cornwall. Rockland’s Jaden Davis and Anthony Hall found the net, but Cornwall’s goaltender Donald Hickey made 34 crucial saves. Rockland’s starting goaltender Benoit Forget makes 2 saves, replaced by Sebastian Resar who makes 11-saves

F | Renfrew 3 Carleton Place 2 (OT)

Kyle Kudrna and William Bouwer scored early for Carleton Place, answered by Renfrew’s Noah VomScheidt and Kai Billey. With no scoring in the second or third, Mathieu Paquin for Renfrew sealed the win in overtime. Renfrew’s goaltender made 23 saves, while Carleton Place’s starting goaltender Aidan Feddema makes 28-saves, replaced by Ian Vandenberg makes 7-saves
